How we make money
Right now, one way: people who want reminders and record keeping pay for ScoreTuner Plus. The guides, the tools and the free account cost nothing, and they stay that way.
Where our money comes from
| Source | Status today | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| ScoreTuner Plus subscriptions | Live | $4.99 a month or $39 a year, paid by the people who choose it. |
| Partner offers | None yet | If we add them, each one is labeled "Partner offer" where it appears, and this page will list them. |
| Selling or renting your data | Never | We don't sell personal data or share it for cross-context advertising. |
| Charging for disputes | Never | Disputing a real error is free under federal law. Our letter builder is free too. |
| Payment for coverage or rankings | Never | No company can pay to be covered, ranked, or left out of a guide. |
What's free
Every guide, every reference page, and all the browser tools are free, with no sign-up. That includes the letter builder, which writes dispute, goodwill, validation and identity theft letters for you to print and mail yourself. A free account needs only an email address and lets you save your results.
ScoreTuner Plus
ScoreTuner Plus costs $4.99 a month or $39 a year. It's organizing and reminder software for people who'd rather not keep the calendar in their head:
- Statement-date reminder emails that tell you the amount to pay before each card's statement closes
- Unlimited saved cards and scenarios
- A letter tracker that counts the 30-day and 45-day dispute clocks for each letter you mail
- Countdowns to the dates late payments, collections and inquiries stop counting or leave your reports
- A score log for the scores you check, labeled by model and bureau
Plus doesn't dispute anything for you, doesn't contact bureaus or creditors, and can't change your reports or promise a score. You can cancel online at any time, and you keep Plus until the end of the period you already paid for. The terms cover billing and refunds.
Partner offers, if we add them
There are no partner offers on ScoreTuner today. Later we may show offers for things like secured cards or credit builder loans, and earn a commission if you apply or are approved through our link. If we do, here's how it will work:
- Each offer carries a visible "Partner offer" label right next to it, and the page says we may earn a commission.
- Offers stay out of short answers, tool results and step-by-step instructions, so advice never doubles as an ad.
- A guide's advice is written first and doesn't change based on which companies pay us.
- This page will list the kinds of partners we work with.
What never influences what we publish
No money changes what a guide says, which facts it includes, how a tool calculates, or which free option we point you to. When a free route exists, such as disputing an error yourself or opting out of prescreened offers, we lead with it even when a paid product does something similar. Our editorial standards explain how guides are sourced and corrected.
